Menus

Windows, and programs running under Windows, give access to actions using menus. XE "menus" The menu bar runs across the top of a window, listing a word for each menu that can be dropped. Clicking on a word in the menu bar drops a menu, and clicking on a word in this menu takes the next step.

In some cases, the next step will be another menu (the triangular pointer), or will require user inputs (the ellipsis , or three dots.)

This book uses a shorthand notation for menu actions. When an instruction is to click File in the menu bar, and then click New Company in the menu, the text merely instructs you to click File|New Company.
